If you select <b>title</b>, that means that only the title field will be searched.</span>&nbsp;</li></ul> <ul> <li><b>ISBN: We do not usually search by ISBN</b> because each format, whether it's soft cover or hardcover, has its own ISBN number. And it does not give you all of the different years that may be available. So, I recommend searching by title.&nbsp;</li></ul> <ul> <li><b>Subject:</b><span> And the other thing I suggest searching for is <b>subject</b>. </span></li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<b>Three ways to expand or broaden search:</b></p> <p>1)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <span>When you're using search expanders, remember <b>synonyms</b> can expand your search to get more results. Then you would <b>use the OR operator</b>. </span></p> <p>2)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <span>You can also expand your results by using the <b>truncation</b>, wildcard character, the <b>asterisk [*]</b> And that will automatically search different endings of the root word. </span></p> <p>3)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <b>Smart Text</b> searching and apply related words and subjects. </p> <p>&nbsp;<b>An example of a search would be:</b></p> <ul> <li>use descriptors </li> <li>add scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. </li> <li>limit your date range. </li> </ul> <p><b>THEN add more limits or filters</b></p> <ul> <li>filter by format, </li> <li>filter by subject, </li> <li>filter by particular database or publication, etc.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<b>Browse All Guides</b> <b>will send you to our</b> <b>list of library guides.&nbsp;</b>The guides are also indexed by <b>subject</b> and <b>program</b>.</p> <p>&nbsp;<b>If you have any questions, ask a librarian.&nbsp; &nbsp;</b></p></div></div>
